The Real Cost

The plan price is not the video price

Generators charge in credits, and rejected takes still burn them. Here is what one finished minute actually costs on three well-known entry plans — each figure is worked out from the tool's own rates on its review page.

Runway

The plan says

from $12/mo

Standard plan, billed annually

A finished video costs

$13.82 per finished minute

per finished minute at Gen-4.5 rates, first takes — two rounds of generations ≈ $27.65

Pictory

The plan says

from $25/mo

Starter plan, billed annually

A finished video costs

$7.50 per finished minute

per finished minute of generated video (Veo 3.1 Fast, 1080p, no audio) at Starter credit value, first take

Synthesia

The plan says

from $14/mo

Workflow Stacks

Nobody ships with one tool

Real production is a combination. These are the stacks creators actually run — with one honest total monthly price, built from the listings on this site.

How It Works

From “which tool?” to making the video, in four steps

The directory is built to be used in order — find, verify, price, then create.

1

Search, or start from your goal

Find candidates by name, by the job you are doing, or by budget — every serious tool is already listed.

2

Check the truth table

Watermark, free export and commercial use are marked only when verified against official pages — unverified facts stay blank, never guessed.

3

Work out the real cost

Price a finished video with the cost calculator, rejected takes included, before you commit to a plan.

4

Pick your tool and create

Go straight to the tool — or set a free price alert on its page and wait for the price to move.

Browse by Job

Thirteen categories, one per job

Every tool in the directory sits in the category of the job it does — with its checked price and free-plan facts on the same card.

Ways to Start

Start from the video you want to make

Most people arrive with a job, not a tool name. Pick the job — these are the categories (and one ready-made stack) that do it, with the checked listings inside.

Same Prompt, Every Tool

Prompt Battle: one prompt, judged fairly

The prompts, contenders and judging criteria are published in advance, so nobody can pick a prompt to flatter a winner. The outputs are being produced on real accounts — there are no winners yet, and no fake results.

Why Trust This Directory

We correct our own listings in public

Prices in AI video change constantly. When our re-checks catch a listing carrying a dead price, we fix it and publish the correction — the latest round changed these four:

Synthesia

$22/mo→$14/mo

Starter dropped on a new shared-credit system

Pictory

$19/mo→$25/mo

Starter rose; our calculator and stacks carried the old figure

Creatify

$39/mo→$10/mo

Entry plan rebuilt — and a real free plan recorded

InVideo AI

~$20/mo→from $10/mo

Whole plan lineup replaced (Starter $10/seat, Plus $30/seat)

Removed tools: none yet — when a tool dies, it is recorded on the changelog with the reason, not left to rot.Read the full changelog →

Questions

How this directory works

The short, honest answers — including the money question.

How do you check a tool's price?

We read the tool's own official pricing page — never a review roundup or an affiliate blog — and record the entry plan, what its credits or minutes actually buy, and the free-plan limits. Every listing shows a “Facts checked” date, and when a price later changes we correct the listing and publish the correction on the changelog.

Do tools pay for their rankings here?

Tools can buy a listing package — Express, Featured or a category sponsorship — and paid placements are labelled as such. Payment never buys a ranking position, a review verdict or a truth badge: the Top Tools ranking and every review on this site are editorial, and a listing's facts are checked exactly the same way whether it is free or paid.

What does “Facts checked” mean?

It means the listing's price, free plan, watermark and commercial-use facts were read on the tool's official pricing or terms pages in the month shown. Where a fact could not be verified, the field is left blank rather than filled with a guess — a blank badge means “not verified yet”, not “no”.

How often is the data re-checked?

Listings are re-checked in rounds against the official pages. The most recent round (Nov 2026) corrected 14 prices and plan structures — each one published on the changelog with the old figure, the new figure and the reason.

Is the directory free to use?

Yes. Browsing, reviews, the cost calculator, the tool finder and price alerts are all free. The site earns from the labelled listing packages founders can buy, and from affiliate links on outbound buttons — disclosed in the footer of every page.
