Our verdict

Best for cost-conscious localisation: the cheapest entry plan in the dubbing category and published per-minute model rates that drop to $0.11/minute at volume — if you accept the entry model's quality trade-off.

What Perso AI really costs

Perso is one of the few dubbing tools that publishes clean per-minute rates, on its own pricing page. On PRO ($99/month for 10,800 credits), using the whole pool on one model buys up to 900 minutes with Finch ($99 ÷ 900 = $0.11/min), 180 minutes with Linnet 4 ($0.55/min) or 45 minutes with Nightingale ($2.20/min). These are alternative uses of the same credits, not three allowances stacked together.

At the other end, Starter ($6.99 for 420 credits, about 7 minutes of dubbing) works out near $1.00 per minute. The lesson is the same as every credit system: your real per-minute price is set by the model you choose and how much of the pool you actually use.

$0.11

Per dubbed minute with Finch on PRO, using all 10,800 credits on Finch (up to 900 min)

$0.55

Per dubbed minute with Linnet 4 on PRO (up to 180 min from the same pool)

$2.20

Per dubbed minute with Nightingale on PRO (up to 45 min from the same pool)

~$1.00

Per dubbed minute on Starter ($6.99 for about 7 minutes)

What is Perso AI?

Perso AI — the dubbing product is branded Perso Dubbing — is built by ESTsoft, a long-running South Korean software company. Where avatar tools generate a presenter from a script, Perso starts from a video you have already made: it detects speech in 99+ languages, transcribes it, translates it, and re-voices it with a cloned version of the original speaker, with multi-speaker detection for conversations and interviews. Optional lip sync adjusts the speaker's mouth movements to the new language on paid plans.

The defining choice in Perso is the model menu. Your credits are spent through different dubbing models at very different rates — a fast, cheap model for bulk work and slower, richer models for hero content. That makes Perso unusually transparent (the pricing page prints the per-minute maths for its top plan) and unusually easy to mis-budget if you pick the premium model by default. The wider Perso family also includes interactive avatars and a Korean avatar studio, but the self-serve dubbing product is the one priced and reviewed here.

How Perso AI works

  1. 1Create a free account and use the one free generation on a real clip — up to 1 minute, exported at 720p with a watermark.
  2. 2Upload your video and let Perso detect the source language and speakers; check the transcript before translating.
  3. 3Pick the target language (99+ supported) and review the translated script — you can edit wording before any voice is generated.
  4. 4Choose a dubbing model deliberately: the entry model stretches credits roughly twenty times further than the premium one.
  5. 5Add lip sync if the speaker is on camera and your plan covers it, noting it has separate credit conditions.
  6. 6Render and download. Paid plans are watermark-free and exports reach 4K on PRO.

Core features

AI dubbing in 99+ languages

Speech detection across 99+ languages with cloned-voice dubbing. The pricing FAQ lists the supported set explicitly, from Spanish and Hindi to Kazakh and Tamil.

Voice cloning and multi-speaker support

The original speaker's voice is cloned for the dub, and multiple speakers in one video are detected and handled separately — both available even in the free test generation (cloning in 4+ languages there).

Optional lip sync

Lip-sync dubbing is offered as an option on paid plans, with its own allowance and credit conditions — budget for it separately from plain dubbing.

Model choice per job

Three named models at published rates on PRO: Finch at $0.11/min, Linnet 4 at $0.55/min and Nightingale at $2.20/min from the same credit pool.

Script editing

Transcripts and translations are editable before rendering, so a bad line is fixed in text rather than by re-dubbing the whole video.

Speech-to-text and audio separation

The same credits also buy transcription and audio separation, so one subscription covers the prep work around dubbing.

Up to 4K export on PRO

PRO supports videos up to 30 minutes and exports up to 4K; lower plans cap resolution and video length lower.

The free plan — the full truth

Perso's free plan is a sample, not a tier you can work on. Perso's own pricing FAQ is admirably specific: one free generation on sign-up, one time, for new users — dub one video up to 1 minute long, at 720p and standard rendering speed, with voice cloning and multi-speaker support included so you can judge the two things that matter (voice match and translation sense). The output carries a non-removable watermark.

That honesty makes the free plan genuinely useful for evaluation and useless for publishing, which is a fair trade. What it cannot tell you is how the premium models sound — the per-minute maths suggests the free test uses the standard pipeline, and the model that produces the headline $0.11/minute rate is a PRO-plan calculation. Budget a Starter month ($6.99) as your real trial if the free minute convinces you.

  • • Exactly one generation, ever — 1 video, up to 1 minute
  • • 720p output at standard rendering speed
  • • Non-removable watermark on the free output
  • • Lip sync is a paid-plan option, not part of the free test
  • • Projects and allowances expand only on paid plans (Starter: 420 credits, about 7 minutes of dubbing)

Pros

  • + Lowest entry price in the dubbing category at $6.99/month
  • + Published per-minute model rates — real costs are calculable in advance
  • + Voice cloning and multi-speaker detection are core, not upsells
  • + Commercial usage rights are stated plainly in the pricing FAQ
  • + The free test, though tiny, tests the real pipeline including cloning

Cons

  • − One free minute is a sample, not a free tier in any working sense
  • − Model choice changes your minutes by 20× — easy to burn a plan on the premium model
  • − Lip sync is separately conditioned, so lip-synced cost per minute is higher than the headline rates
  • − Team features are locked to Enterprise

Best for

  • ✓ Creators localising a back catalogue on a budget
  • ✓ Interview and multi-speaker content that needs speaker-aware dubbing
  • ✓ Anyone comparing dubbing tools on true per-minute cost

Not ideal for

  • ✕ Teams that need shared workspaces without an Enterprise contract
  • ✕ Users who want one simple price and no model decisions

Perso AI alternatives

Dubverse is the natural comparison: a similar credit system (4 credits per dubbed minute), stronger Indian-language voices, but a higher entry price ($18/month) and only a 2-day trial against Perso's free test minute. If you would rather generate a translated presenter than dub real footage, HeyGen and Synthesia both handle translation with lip sync inside their avatar workflows. Rask AI is the other dedicated dubbing specialist in this catalogue, priced in minutes rather than model-dependent credits.

HeyGen

FeaturedTrending

HeyGen turns a script into a video of a realistic digital presenter, with a large avatar library, voice cloning and translation features. It is widely used for marketing videos, product explainers and social content where a human-like presenter is needed without filming.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Perso AI free?

There is a free plan, but it is a single one-time generation: one video up to 1 minute at 720p with a non-removable watermark. Paid plans start at $6.99/month.

Why does Perso quote $0.11 per minute?

That is the effective rate for its Finch model on the PRO plan when all 10,800 credits are spent on Finch dubbing (up to 900 minutes). The same pool buys 180 minutes with Linnet 4 ($0.55/min) or 45 with Nightingale ($2.20/min).

Does Perso AI do lip sync?

Yes, as an option on paid plans, with separate allowance and credit conditions — so a lip-synced minute costs more than the dubbing-only rates on the pricing page.

Can I use Perso-dubbed videos commercially?

Yes. Perso's pricing FAQ says you keep full commercial usage rights to your dubbed videos with no extra fees, and agencies can deliver watermark-free output to clients. You must hold the rights to your source material.

How many languages does Perso support?

99+ languages for dubbing, per its pricing page, with automatic source-language detection.

Perso or Dubverse?

Perso wins on entry price and high-volume per-minute rates. Dubverse wins for Indian-language depth and a simpler credit table (one dubbing rate, not three models). Try both free tests on the same clip before deciding.
